Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Amsterdam, New York. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This project will replace the Route 5S over Schoharie Creek Bridge, restoring Route 5S to its original alignment. This project will also move the Empire State Trail (EST) to BIN 5523610, reverting both bridges back to their previous uses in the Towns of Glen and Florida, Montgomery County. Rt. 5S over Schoharie Creek (BIN 1002940 & 5523610), Towns of Glen and Florida, Montgomery Co. The current status of the project is In Development. The Bid Opening is expected to be in Summer 2027. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2027. Construction is expected to be completed in Winter 2028/2029.. As of October 04, 2025, the project is in Conceptual status. Anticipated letting Year is 2027. NYDOT -Rt. 5S over Schoharie Creek (BIN 1002940 & 5523610), Towns of Glen and Florida, Montgomery Co. *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
