Construction of a full access road to the Ring of Fire, 184 km of new all-season roads as well as upgrades to existing roads. The included road projects are: Webequie Supply Road (WSR) - a proposed all-season road connecting the First Nation to the Ring of Fire mining area. Northern Road Link (NRL) - A proposed road building from a section of the proposed Martin Falls community access road to the Ring of Fire. Marten Falls Community Access Road (MFCAR) - A proposed community all-season road. Anaconda & Painter Lake Roads (APLR) - Proposed upgrades to the existing roads. TIMELINE: Final EA/IS submission for the WSR occurred January 2026 and it is under review. Final EA/IS submission for the MFCAR anticipated early 2026 as well, with the NRL to follow in early 2028. Should EA approvals be received the project would then move to technical permitting and construction phases. In 2025, MTO is planning EA work for upgrades to the existing Anaconda and Painter Lake forestry access roads that are proposed to connect the new roads via the MFCAR to the provincial trunk highway network. SNC Lavalin and Dillon Consulting conducted the environmental assessment and are working on the preliminary design services for Northern Road Link project. Southern Link Study was completed by SNC-Lavalin. The 126-km northern link portion of the route won’t finish its studies and assessments until the beginning of 2028. The Geraldton Main Street Rehabilitation Project will be the first segment on the road network to the Ring of Fire, it can be followed under a separate report. Virtual open houses will occur yearly. Studies are ongoing. Pending EA/IS approvals and design completion, construction activites could begin as early as June 2026.
