Our Mission the Université De Hearst Defines Itself as a Francophone Learning Ecosystem, Both Innovative and Engaging. It Aims to Be a Breeding Ground for Actors and Talents Who Contribute Positively to the Improvement of Their Environment, in a Complex World Where the Valuation of the Inclusion of All is Essential. In This Sense, It Gives Priority to: Supporting the Development of Each Person; Developing Human and Professional Skills; a Personal and Collective Quest; Practicing Increasingly Independent Thinking. Our History When It Was Founded in 1953, the Université De Hearst Was Called the Séminaire De Hearst. This Institution Was Founded by Monsignor Louis Levesque and Financed by the Population of the Diocese of Hearst With the Aim of Making Secondary Studies Accessible to Francophone Youth in Northeastern Ontario. The Séminaire De Hearst Was Incorporated as Collège De Hearst in 1959 to Provide University Education; It Became Collège Universitaire De Hearst in 1972 After Being Recognized by the Province of Ontario as a Public University in 1971. It Then Ceased to Offer Secondary School Programs as These Had Become Accessible Throughout the Region With the Creation of French-language Secondary Schools. In May 2014, After Several Years of Political Action, the Province Granted Its Consent to Collège De Hearst to Present Itself and Be Known as Université De Hearst. Affiliated With the University of Sudbury in 1957 and Subsequently With Laurentian University in 1963, Université De Hearst Offers the Bachelor of Arts, Honours Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration Programs. Since the First Group of Graduates Was Promoted in 1961, More Than 1,000 Students Have Received Their Degrees After Completing Their Studies at the Université De Hearst. Until 1996, It Was Possible to Pursue Studies Full-time in Hearst or Part-time in All Communities in the Region, Which Stretches From Longlac/geraldton to Timmins. In September 1996, Two Campuses Were Added to the Hearst Campus: the Kapuskasing Campus and the Timmins Campus. It is Also Possible to Enroll Full-time in the Programs Offered by the Université De Hearst. In Hearst, the University Was Initially Housed in a Building Belonging to the Diocese of Hearst; This Building Was Purchased by the University in 1970 for a Fraction of What It Had Cost to Build It. At the Kapuskasing Campus, the Université De Hearst's Services Have Been Offered in Facilities It Has Rented Since 1976; the Same Was True for the Timmins Campus Until 2010. Since Then, the Timmins Campus Has Been Located in a New, Modern Building Shared With Collège Boréal.
