Site work and renovation of a water / sewer project in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade water / sewer project.
**As of November 21, 2025, the project was awarded to DNR Tank, with an awarded amount of $7,609,529.01.** The project consists of the rehabilitation of three water tanks: Lower Alamo, Callahan, and Ocotillo. All work must be performed by properly licensed contractors and subcontractors as specified under the New Mexico Construction Industries Licensing Act. The designations required for this work are GF-7, GF-8, or GB-98 licenses. Any work falling outside the prime contractor's classification must be subcontracted to an appropriately licensed entity. Specifications and drawings are available to bidders through the City Website or by email request. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is required for all prospective bidders. Each bid must include a bid security of at least five percent of the total bid amount, and the successful bidder is required to provide performance and payment bonds each for one hundred percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn after the closing time for receipt, and the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive technicalities. Bidders must observe specified employment conditions and minimum wage rates. Callahan Ground Storage Tank Rehabilitation - Scope of Work Project Location: Latitude 32.891, Longitude -105.919 Alamogordo, New Mexico Tank Information: o Tank Name: Callahan Ground Storage Tank o Capacity: 5.0 Million Gallons (MG) o Manufacturer: D & R Tank Company o Year Constructed: 2000 o Construction Type: Welded Steel o Height: 35 feet (to overflow) o Diameter: 153 feet This scope of work outlines the required inspection, structural rehabilitation, coating, and component replacement activities necessary to restore the Callahan Ground Storage Tank to optimal operational and regulatory compliance. All work shall be completed in accordance withapplicable AWWA, SSPC, OSHA, and NSF standards, and in coordination with the Owner's operational schedule and system demands. Tank Structural Investigation Structural Component Inspection All primary structural elements, rafters, center columns, support clips, I-beams, and related components, shall be spot surface abrasive blasted to an SSPC SP-10 "Near White" metal finish. A NACE-certified inspector shall evaluate each area for corrosion and structural integrity. o Abrasive blast a 4-6 ft section of the center column support. o Select eight (8) support rafters for inspection, one from each quadrant of the tank. o On each selected rafter, abrasive blast: o A 2-3 ft length from the rafter's connection at the tank shell toward the dollar plate of the center column, including all clips and attachments. o A 2-3 ft length from the dollar plate back toward the shell attachment point. Tank Shell and Roof Assessment Identify and select areas of each ring of the tank shell that are most susceptible to corrosion. At each selected location, perform spot abrasive blasting to SSPC SP-10 and inspect for corrosion. This procedure shall be repeated at 3-4 locations on each of the following surfaces: o Exterior shell o Interior shell o Interior roof o Exterior roofank Floor Coupon Evaluation Remove twelve (12) floor coupons, each approximately 16" x 16", from randomly selected locations across the tank floor. Each sample shall be abrasive blasted and inspected for corrosion and pitting. Following inspection, new steel patch plates shall be installed and welded watertight at each removal location
