At this time the bid will be awarded subject to entering into a contract with the successful bidder on terms satisfactory to the Township. Bidder must submit proposal on PennDOT forms, which may be obtained from online along with bid specifications, general conditions, Statement of Bidder's Qualifications and Experience, and complete bid information. The Township reserves the right to award the bid to any qualified bidder and waive the requirement to have any specified equipment set forth in the Bid documents Charlestown Township is requesting proposals for the Pickering Creek Pedestrian Bridge Repair Project. The Pickering Creek Pedestrian Bridge is a former railroad bridge crossing over the Pickering Creek. The bridge is currently used by pedestrians who access the Pickering Creek trail system in Charlestown Township, Chester County, PA. The closest intersection to the bridge is Pickering Dam Road and Peaks Pike. The Pickering Creek Pedestrian Bridge connects the northern and southern sections of the trail over the Pickering Creek which is owned and maintained by Charlestown Township. A recent storm caused the creek to peak and erode both sides of the abutments. The repairs include adding railings to the bridge, incorporating gabions on either side of both abutments and adjusting the soil trail to meet the bridge entrance/exit. No stream or wetlands areas will be impacted by the proposed bridge repair. There is no engineer's cost estimate for this project.
