Remodeling of a mixed-use development in New Britain, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the remodel of a one-story above grade municipal facility; and one-story above grade fire / police facility.
City Hall Duct Work Cleaning and Police Department Duct Work Cleaning. Attendance at a pre-bid conference and site inspections is recommended. Bids must be submitted in triplicate and include: Form Pur. 1 (Request for Quotation), Notices to Prospective Bidders (Pages 10-11), W9, and Non-Collusive Forms. Bids will not be accepted after the stated bid opening date and time. Bids cannot be faxed or e-mailed. Scope of Work Work Schedule 7 CITY OF NEW BRITAIN PUBLIC BID NO. 4212 The contractor shall clean the entire system including all vertical and horizontal shafts serving the basement, Floors 1 -5, VAV Boxes and all air handler units. As well as all other related components. A detailed construction schedule is required and to be submitted with the bid response. No work will be performed on weekends or holidays unless approved by the Manager of Facilities & Energy. Vacuum collection equipment (HEPA 2500 to 500 cfm removing 99.5% contaminants) shall be deployed to protect occupied spaces. Cleaned registers, vents, grilles and diffusers shall be reinstalled. Ceiling tiles shall be placed back in their original positions. Any ceiling tiles broken during this performance shall be replaced by the contractor. All rubbish, debris excess materials and foreign matter shall be removed and disposed of by the Contractor at the Contractors expense. All damper sets shall be returned to original settings after cleaning. Filters throughout the system shall be replaced (filters to be provided by the City). Any damage caused during the performance of the cleaning shall be repaired or replaced at the Contractors expense. Remove all registers, vents and diffusers as needed. Vacuum and/or hand wash all registers, vents, grills and diffusers with a sanitizing solution. Remove/Replace sections of drop ceilings for access ports as needed. All work shall be performed in accordance with industry standards as established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). City Hall must remain open and operable during the entire duration of the contract. All work under this contract must be completed by end of January 2026. Contamination shall be removed from the duct work via air lancers, mechanical agitators or brushes inserted through access points. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to confirm the availability of access points. If additional access points are required, the Contractor shall cut access points and close such access points via metal panels of like gauge or heavier. The access points shall be created and sealed properly by the contractor at their expense.
