(1) - Rt 129, Rt 29 To Rt 1 & Rt 29, Rt 295 To Rt 129 (Design H-1 Level A, T-1 Level A, H-3 Level A) Location(s) Mercer, New Jersey Allows zero unit prices and labor Yes Allows negative unit prices and labor Yes The project is to address safety improvements along the Route 129 corridor in the City of Trenton and Township of Hamilton in Mercer County to mitigate significant pedestrian, bicycle, and fatal crash history along the corridor, specifically at the three signalized intersections within the project limits: Lalor Street (CR 650) Cass Street, and Hamilton Avenue (CR 606).Proposed improvements will include pedestrian and bicycle compatibility upgrades at the three signalized intersections along with corridor-wide improvements as well as gateway area improvements near Route 29 and Route 129 interchange. NJDOT BTE has implemented traffic signal improvements at these intersections to help mitigate the crash frequency. Improvements included dilemma zone and passive pedestrian detection which both adjust the signal timing in real time to minimize the chance for vehicle and pedestrian conflicts. Based on the alternatives analysis, it is recommended to extend the project limits on Rt. 129 to MP 0.73 to account for the gateway improvements including the incorporation of Hard Shoulder Running on the Rt 29 NB ramp to Rt. 129 NB and associated ITS improvements. The limits will now include Rt. 29 MP 1.43 to 1.77.
