(5%) The Dixie Highway Corridor Improvement Project encompasses Phase I Engineering Design for a proposed multi-use highway extending from 139th Street to 159th Street in the City of Harvey. This project is designed to enhance access for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists by incorporating key elements such as structural pavement reconstruction, truck access improvements, traffic signal installations, water and sewer replacements, street lighting, a multi-use side path, and additional pedestrian amenities along the corridor. The improvements aim to enhance multimodal functionality, safety, and the overall streetscape aesthetics. Funded through the Illinois Surface Transportation Program, the project will connect with existing sidewalks and roadway segments, integrating seamlessly with the broader street network (see attached exhibit). While the multi-use road is expected to stay within the current utility right-of-way, some additional right-of-way acquisition may be necessary based on the finalized alignment. The selected consultant(s) will be responsible for delivering the necessary design and community engagement components for the Phase I Engineering Design of the Dixie Highway Corridor Improvement Project, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation. Project due diligence will include land surveying, geotechnical investigation, right-of-way coordination, stormwater management, pavement management, and road alignment. In addition, the consultant(s) will facilitate community engagement activities to ensure public involvement in the design process. As the project is grant funded, the consultant(s) will also assist with grant management and administration.
