This project consists of the construction of public infrastructure improvements to SR 79 and Thomas Drive just south of Interstate 10 to promote future commercial development in this area of Holmes County. Improvements include a new paved roadway extension of Thomas Drive (approximately 1,700 feet west of SR 79), stormwater ponds, filling of existing ponds, addition of turn lanes on SR 79, addition of a signalized intersection at SR 79 and Thomas Drive, new sewer lift station, an 8-inch water main extension, and an 8-inch gravity sewer extension along the new Thomas Drive roadway. The work also includes clearing and grubbing, earth moving, roadway base work, concrete curb and gutters, concrete pavement, roundabout construction, signing, and pavement markings. Bidding Contractors must be prequalified by the DEPARTMENT (FDOT) as required by Section 2 of the current FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Small business and minority businesses, women's business enterprises, and labor surplus area firms are encouraged to submit proposals, and firms using such subcontractors are strongly encouraged to solicit such firms in the subcontracting process. Parts of the work to be performed under this contract are subject to the requirements of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 USC 1701u (Section 3). Sureties used for obtaining bonds must be acceptable according to the Department of Treasury Circular 570.
