Site work for a water / sewer project in Farmington, New Mexico. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade water / sewer project.
The scope of work is to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, permits, supervision, and incidentals necessary to remove the existing concrete lining, prepare the foundation, and install a new 6-inch thick reinforced concrete lining for approximately 3,110 linear feet of the designated canal section(s). Bidders are required to have a Construction License GA-98. Questions and/or clarifications must be submitted through the online bidding system by the deadline. Only purchasing staff are approved contacts; contacting other City officials or employees may result in disqualification. No claims can be made for failure to obtain information available from the City by exercising due diligence. Question Deadline 11/25/2025 at 4:00 PM MT 06:00 PM (ET) QA Deadline change from 11/20/2025 as per addendum 3 1. Site Preparation a. Mobilization of crew, equipment, and materials to the site. b. Establishment of temporary access, staging areas, and safety barriers. c. Clearing and grubbing, as needed, to ensure access and work area accessibility. 2. Removal of Existing Concrete Lining a. Saw-cutting (as necessary) to delineate limits of demolition. b. Demolition and removal of existing concrete lining, including both canal bottom and side slopes. c. Removal of reinforcing steel (if any) and other embedded materials. d. Hauling and legal disposal of all debris at an approved off-site facility. e. Dust control and erosion protection during demolition operations. 3. Foundation Preparation a. Excavation and grading of the canal bed and side slopes to specified dimensions and tolerances. b. Compaction of subgrade to meet design requirements (95% of maximum dry density per ASTM D698 unless otherwise specified). c. Placement and grading of 3/4 " (three-quarter inch) gravel bedding material, 4- inches in thickness. d. Inspection and approval of the foundation before concrete placement. 4. Formwork and Reinforcement a. Installation of formwork for canal bottom and sidewalls as per design specifications. b. Provide welded wire mesh or #4 bars @ 12 inches on centers each way, unless otherwise approved by Engineer or Project Manager. c. Use of spacers/chairs to maintain correct cover and alignment. 5. Concrete Placement a. Supply, placement, and finishing of 6-inch thick reinforced concrete lining throughout the canal bed and side slopes. b. Concrete shall meet the following specifications (unless otherwise stated): o Minimum compressive strength: 4,000 psi at 28 days o Slump: 3-5 inches o Air entrainment: 4-6% (if required for freeze-thaw resistance) c. Consolidation using vibration methods to prevent honeycombing. d. Finishing to specified smoothness and slope tolerances. e. Construction joints, control joints, and expansion joints shall be placed every 20-feet. 6. Curing and Protection a. Application of curing compound or other approved curing method to prevent premature drying. b. Protection of freshly placed concrete from rain, wind, freezing, and vandalism during curing period. c. Minimum curing period: 7 days or per specification. 7. Site Restoration and Demobilization a. Removal of forms, equipment, and temporary facilities. b. Backfill around canal lining (if applicable). c. Restoration of all disturbed areas to pre-construction conditions or better. d. Final site cleanup
