This project will upgrade the various aspects of the fire alarm system in Rabb, Elkin and Hoffman Halls. Various existing devices in these buildings are currently served via obsolete traditional horn/strobe fire alarm system equipment. Some devices have been replaced in recent years with devices compatible with an existing main fire alarm control panel, a Simplex 4100ES. This main control panel was installed in a 2017 project and located in Rabb Hall. This main fire alarm control panel supports voice evacuation devices in some parts of Rabb Hall and Hoffman. Some existing devices in Rabb, Elkin, and Hoffman are connected to this existing main fire alarm control panel, via direct homerun connections or back fed connections through the existing traditional fire alarm system and equipment. New networkable Simplex 4100ES fire alarm controls panels will be added to Elkin and Hoffman respectively. New Mini-plex Transponder fire alarm panels will be added to Rabb. These panels will be connected to the existing main fire alarm control panel in Rabb via singlemode fiber. All existing traditional horn/strobe devices and visual devices will be replaced with new voice evacuation devices. All existing devices compatible with the new voice evacuation fire alarm system will remain and be reconnected to the new network panels in each building. It is the intent of this project that all existing obsolete traditional horn/strobe fire alarm system devices and equipment to be removed at the completion of this project.
