Renovation of an educational facility in Boulder, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Project will be executed at LSTR - LASP Space Technology Research Center on CU Boulder East Campus. The purpose of this project is to replace existing pneumatic controls (including control valves and actuators, damper actuators, and sensing devices) with new DDC controls compatible with Schneider Electric Ecostruxure. Control air tubing shall be removed to furthest extent possible without invasive demolition of building finished surfaces. Systems include Variable-volume air-handling units AHU-1, -2, & -3 (Note: Terminal device control was upgraded to DDC under a previous project); Constant-volume air-handling unit AHU-4, including zone reheat coils; Variable-volume relief fans RF-1 & -2; Miscellaneous reheat coils, pumps, cabinet unit heaters, fin-tube heaters, and fans not previously converted to DDC. This upgrade achieves the University standard to have HVAC systems managed by digital controls and incorporated into the Building Automation System. The scope of services will be as required by the Contractors Design/Bid/Build Agreement (Form SC-6.21) and the Construction Documents prepared by Shaffer Baucom Engineering & Consulting. Additional Scope items (This is not a comprehensive list of all scope items. Contractors will need to review construction documents, when available, for comprehensive list of all scope items). Included 1. Replace constant-speed heating water coil circulators serving AHU-1, -2, -3 & -4, along with heating coil valves. 2-way and 3-way valves will be selected to provide minimum required pump flow. 2. Replace chilled water valves serving AHU-1, -2, -3 & -4 with 2-way pressure independent control valves (PICVs). Bypass PICV(s) will be selected to provide minimum required chiller flow. 3. Provide DDC sequences to operate systems in line with current codes, UCB standards, and best practices, to the degree feasible with existing system configurations and capacities. 4. Provide variable-speed, lead/lag control logic for existing VFD-equipped building heating water pumps. This work is isolated to the original wing of LSTR/LASP. To ensure sufficient information is available to teams preparing submittals, a mandatory pre submittal conference has been scheduled. The intent of this conference is to tour the site and to have University of Colorado Boulder staff available to discuss the project. Firms preparing submittals must attend and sign-in in order to have their submittals accepted. The mandatory pre-submittal conference Notice to Proceed 02/22/2026 Substantial Completion 05/31/2026 Final Completion 06/30/2026 It is the intent of the University of Colorado Boulder that after review and scoring of the pre-qualification submittals for this project, the top pre-qualified firms will be invited to bid the project conventionally with the intent of awarding to the lowest responsible bidder.
