Demolition, site work, new construction and addition to a mixed-use development in Decorah, Iowa. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a fire / police facility; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and for the construction of a municipal facility.
A New and Expanded Fire Station: Expanded apparatus bay to store all the fire department’s vehicles (engines, trucks, ATV, boats) in one location A decontamination zone to provide a separate space for gear and equipment upon return from calls Increased tool and maintenance storage, allowing staff to better maintain department fleet and make needed repairs/upgrades A hose tower, allowing hoses to drain and properly dry after each use, prolonging hose life. The tower also provides a training site for staff. Training/command center room to create needed space for meetings, department trainings, and to serve as a central communication room during incident response Office area to provide needed staff space for report completion, investigation, planning, and other administrative tasks Increased storage for equipment, supplies, and records Essential living quarters for on-call fire department personnel Public restrooms Code-compliant City storm shelter This project was part of the school district's bond. Upgraded Space for City Parks & Recreation Department & Administration: Expanded public meeting space and conference room Improved audio/visual capabilities for public meetings ADA accessible City Council Chambers Updated ADA accessible restrooms Efficient office space that meets the needs of the City administration and Parks and Recreation Department Equipment storage Public Service Counter for city business and customer service Improved document and records storage to eliminate off-site rented facilities Efficient building systems and finishes to save on facility maintenance and utility costs. As of February 24, 2026, the bond failed.
