Site work for a civil project in Decorah, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
In general, the work involves, but is not limited to, selective clearing, excavation and grading, along with tile and outlet structures, riprap placement, and seeding. This project includes around 12,320 cubic yards of earthwork, 1640 square feet of sheet piling, 2,144 linear feet of various tile installation including 168 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe, one concrete control structure, 456 tons of riprap and erosion stone, 78 cubic yards of grout, and 1.8 acres of seeding. The estimated construction cost range for this project is $300,000 and $340,000. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. Bids must be submitted on the appropriate bid forms provided and shall include a bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%). Bidders must also be registered with the Iowa Division of Labor. The successful bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance/Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Attendance at the pre-bid conference by prospective bidders is not mandatory, but is encouraged. The work shall consist of investigation, location, repair, and/or removal of subsurface drains (tile) near new or existing animal waste storage facilities or in wetland restoration, enhancement, or creation project areas, or other situations where subsurface drains may be present. 2. INVESTIGATION AND LOCATION An inspection trench at least 10 inches wide shall be dug at the location shown on the drawings or as directed by the engineer or his representative. The trench shall be at least 6 feet deep measured from the original ground line, unless otherwise shown on the plans. The Engineer or his representative shall examine the trench and excavated material to identify tile lines. Size, material, operating condition and direction of flow of each conduit shall be documented. Location and flow line elevation of each conduit shall be surveyed with horizontal and vertical control based on benchmarks shown on the plans. The inspection trench shall be documented by surveying the natural ground and trench bottom location and elevations at the beginning, end, and every 50 feet for trenches longer than 50 feet. Backfilling shall not be started without approval of the Engineer. See Section 5 for backfill specifications. Trench shields, shoring and bracing, or other methods necessary to safeguard the workers and work, and to prevent damage to the existing improvements shall be furnished, placed, and subsequently removed by the contractor Location: Section 21, Township 98 North, Range 09 West Winneshiek County, Iowa
