Safety and Preservation Improvements, Phase 2 The work generally consists of Health, Safety, and Accessibility improvements to the existing building, including new mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems and new egress stair, along with repair and replacement of various building elements for historic preservation. This work includes site work, selective demolition, repair and restoration, interior and exterior repainting and refinishing, new window replacement and new wood shutters. The estimated construction cost is between $5 million and $10 million. The estimated value of the public works contract is $250,000 or more and the apprenticeship agreement preference pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes 103-55.6 (ACT 17, SLH 2009) shall apply.
