As of December 30, 2025, project was awarded to GMC Underground, awarded amount is $392,815.48. Furnish all labor and materials, and perform all work required to extend a 4" gas main via directional drilling along the west side of Highway 181 from south of Silverwood Dr. to Dominion Dr., for approximately 18,500 feet of 4" PE pipe. The contractor is responsible for acquiring all permitting and providing all materials, personnel, tools, and equipment necessary for the project. All bids must be submitted on blank bid forms provided in the bid documents, enclosed in a sealed, opaque envelope, clearly identified as a "Sealed Bid" with the item name, bid number, City of Fairhope's name and address, and contractor's name and address. Each bid must be in a separate envelope. Bids made out in pencil will not be accepted. Failure to observe the instructions may result in rejection of the bid. No bids will be considered unless the contractor, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a proposal for this type of work in accordance with all applicable Alabama laws, and, where applicable, must include evidence of holding a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Bidders. Non-resident corporations must also show evidence of qualification with the Secretary of State to do business in Alabama. Contractors must have a current business license or purchase one with the City of Fairhope prior to performing work. Bids may not be withdrawn for 30 days after proposal opening without the consent of the City of Fairhope. The City of Fairhope is requesting an existing 4" PE gas main to be extended via directional drilling along the West side of HWY-181. Tie-In point #1 will be on the west side of HWY-181 just south of Terrace Drive. Tie-In point #2 will be on the southwest side of the intersection of HWY 98 & HWY-181. (See map drawing provided by City of Fairhope Gas Department for detailed proposed path). Tie-in point #3 will be on the east side of Dominion Drive on HWY-98. The contractor selected will be held responsible for furnishing all materials, personnel, tools, equipment and pipe. The contractor will also be responsible for verification of pipe sizes/type, utility locations, soil/hole stabilizations, erosion control (temporary and permanent), trench boxes, traffic control, connections, taps, site restoration etc. that is necessary throughout the duration of this project to its completion with the exception of materials for valve boxes, valve extensions, valve lids, and location markers.
