The City of Bellevue is seeking industry comment on the contract documents for the Grand Connection: I-405 Crossing Project. The purpose of the Project is to build a bridge over I-405 for non-motorized users, linking Downtown Bellevue to the Eastrail regional trail and Wilburton neighborhood. It will start at the City Hall Plaza, cross over I-405 and local streets at 112th Avenue NE and end at 116th Avenue NE, where it will connect with over 170 miles of trails accessible by half a million Eastside residents via the Eastrail trail. The crossing is assumed to be a multi-span bridge structure spanning approximately a half-mile distance. More information on the Project may be found on the Project website Online. The City seeks to deliver the Project through a highly collaborative process using a Heavy Civil General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) method. The goal of the industry comment process is to collaborate with the industry to improve the delivery of the Project and meet the Project's goals. Therefore, the City requests that each comment or suggested revision be accompanied by a statement on the comment form explaining why the revision is in the best interest of the Project. A comment form must be submitted with entries for each comment or suggestion for the City to consider them.
