All bidders are required to sign a certification that they will comply with all Federal and State non-discrimination laws and regulations. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities in proposals and to accept the proposal that in the opinion of the City Council is most advantageous to the City. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of bids for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time of receiving bids. Residential sewer line replacement (trenchless method) Property address: 703 S. 16th St. Niles, MI 49120 The City of Niles is seeking proposals from qualified and licensed contractors to upgrade the knob and tube electric as well as perform a replacement of the main sanitary sewer line running from the residential property at 703 S 16th St. Niles, MI 49120 to the municipal sewer connection at the street. The objective is to replace the failing sewer lateral with a new, Schedule 40 PVC pipe, causing no disruption to the street, sidewalk, or right-of-way Project initiation and planning o Permitting: The contractor will obtain and cover the cost for all necessary municipal and public works permits prior to the start of work. o Utility location: The contractor will arrange for all underground utility locations and mark-outs to prevent damage to other services. o Pre-installation inspection: The contractor will conduct a pre-installation camera inspection of the existing sewer lateral to confirm its route, depth, and structural condition, and to identify any potential obstacles. o Site assessment: The contractor will confirm that the replacement can be performed without any excavation or damage to the street, sidewalk, or public right-of-way Pipe Replacement 1. Remove and dispose of the damaged pipe in accordance with environmental regulations. 2. Install new Schedule 40 PVC pipe of appropriate diameter and slope to maintain proper flow. 3. Connect new pipe sections using solvent-welded joints and appropriate fittings. 4. Ensure watertight and root-resistant connections at both the building cleanout and the property line connection. 5. Perform alignment and slope verification before backfilling. Backfill and Restoration 1. Backfill excavated areas with approved material, compacted in lifts to prevent settlement. 2. Restore any disturbed landscaping or surfaces within the private property to pre-construction condition. 3. Clean up the site and remove all debris upon completion. nstallation of New Electrical System o Install new NM-B (Romex) or other approved wiring per Michigan and NEC requirements. o Upgrade branch circuits, receptacles, switches, and lighting outlets as needed. o Provide new grounded outlets (GFCI and AFCI protection where required by code). o Ensure proper circuit sizing for appliances, HVAC, and other dedicated loads. o Label and document all circuits at the main electrical panel. o Upgrade panel and service entrance if capacity or condition requires (to be approved in advance with homeowner). The undersigned hereby agrees that if this foregoing proposal shall be accepted by the said City he will complete the entire work of this contract by January 30, 2026.
