The work consists of public works construction for the replacement of the play area improvements at Bloomfield Park in Lakewood, California. The work generally includes demolition, grading, concrete foundations, play equipment installation, shade structure installation, rubberized surfacing, drainage improvements, and related miscellaneous improvements as required by the contract documents. The contractor is required to fence the site during construction, remove existing play equipment, footings, and sand, and to furnish, assemble, and install the new play equipment, shade structure, and resilient surfacing as described in the plans and specifications. Bidders must use a Proposal form furnished by the City and submit bids accompanied by cash, a certified cashier's check, or a bidder's bond for at least ten percent of the bid amount. The successful bidder must possess a valid Class A Contractor's License, or an appropriate combination of Class C licenses, and the playground installer must have factory installation certification by PlayPower, Inc. Compliance with California Labor Code prevailing wage requirements and Department of Industrial Relations registration is mandatory. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informality, or make an award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder as determined by the proposal. Within three days of bid opening, the apparent low bidder must submit a revised bid bond with the amount in words and digits.
