The City of Providence is seeking qualified contractors to provide improvements to the Joslin Recreation Gym. Flooring a. Drum sand down to bare wood, install new urethane finish and paint new lines and logos b. NOTE - court lines will be shifted towards the school-side of the gym, with space for bleachers on the Recreation Center side of the gym. 2. Hoops a. Replace backboards & hoops. Relocate hoops to align with new court orientation i. Basis of design: Bison Unbreakable Glass Backboard 72"W x 42"H or approved equal online 3. Wall Pads a. Remove existing wall pads and install new with 100% coverage of wall surfaces and doors. New wall pads to be fastened using a 1" nailing margin, and existing furring boards to be replaced where damaged. SCHEDULE The project site is a gymnasium which is actively used by D'Abate Elementary School during the day and by the Recreation Department on the evenings and weekends. Work within the site will be scheduled through the Department of Public Property with careful coordination with PPSD and the Recreation Department. Work will ideally be performed during School breaks, with the potential to perform work during Spring Break (April 20 - 24, 2026) and in early Summer (June 25 - July 24, 2026).
