The project involves improvements to the Public Works Facility at 291 E Ivy Ave. The existing southern building will be removed and replaced with a new maintenance shop. This includes re-grading the site to increase parking space and improve stormwater conveyance. The scope of work includes erosion control, demolition, haul, disposal, grading, trenching, utility extensions, retaining walls, concrete foundations, framing, roofing, siding, paving, fencing, site restoration, and other tasks. Plans and specifications provide the basis for structural work. The contractor will be responsible for the design, permitting, and installation of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and interior work in collaboration with the City during construction. The contractor must furnish all materials. To bid on the project, attendance at one pre-bid meeting is mandatory. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes clearly stating the bidder's name, bid opening date, and project title. Bids sent by mail should also include another envelope addressed to the City Engineer. All bid proposals require a bid deposit equal to five percent (5%) of the proposal amount. The contract is subject to Davis Bacon federal prevailing wage requirements, and the higher of federal or state wage rates will prevail. The City of La Center may reject any or all bids or accept the bid that is in the City's best interest, and may waive informalities or irregularities in any bid.
