Site work for a water / sewer project in Natick, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade water / sewer project.

The work involves furnishing and replacement of High Lift Pump No. 1. All responses must comply with the Request for Responses, including Section 1, Instructions to Responders, and Submission Requirements. The Town reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any, any part of, or all responses in the best interest of the Town. The contract award is subject to appropriation and award by the Natick Town Administrator. Any response submitted will be binding for thirty days subsequent to the time of opening. Award is subject to vote of the Natick Town Administrator and sufficient appropriation/funding. A. Work included: 1. The Work of this project is located in the Town of Natick, MA, at the Springvale Water Treatment Plant, 1080 Worcester Road., Natick, MA 01760. 2. The work of the General Contractor shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to, providing all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required to replace high Lift Pump #1 and inspect Hi Lift pump #2. 3. Hi Lift pump #1 was removed by others and determined the pump, pump shaft, line shafts (2), column pipe (1) and drive shaft require replacement. 4. Replace High Lift Pump #1, including, but not limited to, the following work. a. Furnish and install new vertical turbine pumping equipment, b. Furnish and install new complete stuffing box in existing discharge head, c. Conduct pump test on new pumping equipment and provide report. 5. Inspect High Lift Pump #2, including, but not limited to, the following work. d. Remove pumping equipment form clearwell and deliver to contractor's shop, e. Send motor to motor shop for inspection, f. Furnish and install new or repaired vertical turbine pumping equipment as approved. Cost for repairs and new equipment to be a change order. g. Conduct pump test on pumping equipment and provide report. 6. In order for Natick to meet water demands, existing Hi Lift pump #1 must be operational before Hi Lift pump #2 is pulled. A. Work included: The well and pump station portions of this project will be performed within the 400-foot protective radius of a public water supply well. Under this section the Contractor shall implement and adhere to a Contamination Prevention and Countermeasure Plan in accordance with this section, and all applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to air quality and noise emissions emanating from the project site and the release of any oil and/or hazardous material to the soil surface, subsurface or groundwater. This plan shall encompass fire detection and suppression methods during welding activities, noise emission controls, spill prevention control and countermeasures, solid waste management, and work scheduling during the progress of the work. B. The Contractor shall submit their Contamination Prevention and Countermeasure Plan in written form for review, including the provision of submittals for all components to be utilized in the plan. A. Hi Lift Pump #1 Work included: Furnish and install a new vertical turbine pump for Hi Lift pump #1 as required by the Contract Documents. The existing pump has been removed by others. Hi Lift Pump #1 work includes but is not limited to the following. 1. Protection of the building and its equipment 2. Existing motor and discharge head to be onsite for installation under this project. 3. Furnish new pump, column, bearings, shafting, stuffing box and bearings. 4. Disinfection and steam cleaning of pumping equipment prior to installation in the well. 5. Installation of new vertical turbine pumping equipment. 6. Reconnection of the piping and motor conductors. 7. Pump tests and associated reporting B. Hi Lift Pump #2 Work included: Remove Hi Lift pump #2 for inspection after Hi Lift pump #1 is operational. Hi Lift Pump #2 work includes but is not limited to the following. 1. Protection of the building and its equipment 2. Unwiring of motor, removal of pump, motor, shafting, column and associated pipe and fittings 3. Disassembly and inspection of existing vertical turbine pump, column and shafting. 4. Removal of motor and delivery to and from motor shop for inspection, testing and rehabilitation (if necessary). 5. Provide recommendation for pump repairs or equipment replacement, if necessary. 6. Make equipment repairs or replacement where approved by Owner. 7. Disinfection and steam cleaning of pumping equipment prior to re-installation in the well. 8. Installation of vertical turbine pumping equipment. 9. Reconnection of the piping and motor conductors. 10. Pump tests and associated reporting C. Site Description: 1. The Springvale highlift building has five (5) high lift pumps, three in one clearwell and two in the other. The clearwell with three pumps is the location of the Hi Lift pump #1 and #2 under this project. 2. The high lift motors and vertical turbine pumps are located inside a building, see drawing for details. D. Related work: 1. Documents affecting work of this Section include, but are not necessarily limited to Sections in Division l of these Specifications.
