Site work and paving for a road / highway in Newton, Kansas. Completed plans call for paving for a one-story above grade road / highway.
This project consists of a 1.75" Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) overlay on approximately 9.65 miles of road in Harvey County, Kansas, with road widths generally being 24 feet wide. The HMA shall be KDOT Commercial Grade Mix (Class A), and the application on W. Dutch Ave. must use a spray paver on both locations (9.65 miles). About 3,498 SY of milling is required, including transitions at project start and end, intersections, and bridge approaches. Temporary pavement marking, limited to the centerline, is included and subsidiary to HMA costs. All bids must be unit prices for a measured quantities contract and submitted on specific forms available from the County Engineer. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified cashier's check in the amount of 5 percent of the total bid. Submit the bid and security in an opaque, sealed envelope clearly identified as required. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. The County reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
