Demolition, site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Newton, Kansas. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel; and one-story above grade bridge / tunnel.
The project consists of the demolition of an existing Steel Beam Continuous Bridge and the construction of a replacement Reinforced Concrete Haunched Slab (R.C.S.H.) Bridge over the Middle Branch Emma Creek in Harvey County, Kansas. The existing bridge is a 3-span, 110-foot-long structure with a concrete deck, abutments, and piers. The replacement structure is a 120-foot-long R.C.S.H. bridge with a 28-foot-wide roadway. Associated improvements will include concrete approach slabs, steel guardrail, embankment grading, riprap slope protection, and roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction. The roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction will include full-depth repair, base construction, and a 2" mill and overlay. The construction will include temporary and permanent erosion control measures, traffic control, and signing. All bids shall be unit prices for a measured quantities contract and shall be submitted on forms which may be obtained from the County Engineer. The proposed contract documents consisting of specifications together with information for bidders, bid proposal, forms, and forms of contract, performance bond and statutory bond, may be examined in the office of the Harvey County Clerk, Newton, Kansas and at the offices of the Engineer. The proposed contract documents may be obtained by prospective bidders by contacting the Engineer.
