Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Mount Pleasant Mills, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Project consists of construction of a new 0.1 mgd package Wastewater Treatment Plant including but not limited to influent vault and metering, headworks and screen, SBR treatment concrete tanks and equipment, UV disinfection, blowers, yard piping, new electrical service, duct banks, new process control and blower building, demolition of existing treatment plant and existing electrical, and all associated appurtenances. The Work covered under Division 2 shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to perform the Site Work required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this Division of the Specifications. The Work to be completed includes, but is not limited to, the following general items: a. Clearing and grubbing b. Earthwork/pipeline earthwork c. Rock excavation d. Drainage and utilities e. Erosion and sediment control f. Paving and surfacing g. Site improvements h. Topsoil, seeding, and mulching i. Fencing j. Site Demolition 2. Unless specifically noted otherwise, all Work shall be performed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the Contract Documents and all Work shall be constructed complete. 3. The Contractor shall be totally responsible for the design, purchase, and installation of all construction aids. None of the structures or materials indicated on the Drawings were intended for this use. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this section, although set forth herein but once, shall apply equally to all site work specified and/or provided underthe requirements of the various sections of the Specifications. 2. Section 00950: Permits. 3. Section 02541: Erosion and Sediment Control 4. Site Work: Division 2 1. Scope a. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to perform the Clearing and Grubbing, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents a. Section 02110: Demolition b. Section 02200: Earthwork c. Section 02541: Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to perform the Demolition, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. The Contractor shall perform all the demolition work necessary to allow forthe complete installation of all proposed or modified structures and facilities. He shall also demolish those substructures which are indicated on the Drawings to be removed (indicated demolition work), or abandon in place as indicated, to the limits shown on the Drawings. The method of demolition shall be of the Contractor's own choosing except for the limitations hereinafter indicated. 3. Utilities and pipelines which will have their usage curtailed or abandoned by construction of the Project shall be closed off in a manner approved by the respective utilities and the Engineer. 4. All demolition work shall be performed in a timely manner, using extreme care to protect and preserve in place and without damage all new facilities and all existing facilities not designated for removal. Work shall be accomplished without interference to treatment facility operations and personnel. 5. Demolition activities shall be conducted such that requirements for patching shall be minimized. Patching shall be performed as required to provide a neat and workmanlike finished appearance to existing floors and other surfaces. 6. The Contractor shall review the Drawings pertaining to existing facilities and demolition and perform the necessary on-site inspections before submitting his Bid to develop a full understanding of the scope of the demolition work as herein specified and set forth on the Drawings. Any deviations from the information depicted on the Drawings or found during construction will not be a basis for a claim for additional compensation. 7. The term demolition, as used herein, shall mean the careful and particular removal of existing objects or structures, or parts thereof, excepting those designated to remain, to the specific limits indicated in the Specifications and on the Drawings, and as designated by the Engineer; the disposal of that which was removed; and the performance of related work. A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, and test the Earthwork, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. All Work performed and materials furnished shall conform to the lines, grades, cross-sections, dimensions, details, gradations, and physical requirements established by the Drawings and Specifications. All Earthwork performed, including the materials furnished, shall be subject to the testing and inspection requirements set forth herein. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. If applicable, exploratory drilling, excavation and testing performed on the Project site may be provided in a Subsurface Investigation Report. This data and report, with all other exhibits, are available for informational purposes only. Please refer to Section 00800: Supplemental Conditions for limitations and restrictions on the data and information contained in subsurface investigation reports and data. Neither the Owner, Engineer or its Agents warrants or guarantees the accuracy, correctness or completeness of any subsurface information nor representations contained in the subsurface investigation reports are restricted to physical conditions existing at the time of the exploration work. 2. Test Pit logs reflect the conditions at the specific locations of each Test Pit only. The Contractor accepts full responsibility for any conclusions drawn with respect to conditions between Test Pits. Bidders may therefore undertake to perform their own investigation of existing subsurface conditions. The Owner will not be responsible in any way for the consequences of the Contractor's failure to conduct such investigations. Excavation for the Project is "Unclassified", as fully described in the following paragraphs: a. Data concerning subsurface conditions is provided for information purposes only. The Contractor is advised that no representations are made regarding the quantity, location or quality of subsurface rock, soil and water. b. All excavation on this project is considered "Unclassified" as governed by the applicable provisions of the Contract Documents. The Contractor is further advised that discrepancies in various elevations of soil, rock and water encountered during excavation will, in no way, be the basis for additional compensation. The Contractor shall make its own interpretations and investigations as to excavation required for the project. c. No warranties, indemnifications, or guarantees are made by the Owner and Engineer relative to subsurface information provided either in the Contract Documents or Drawings. The Contractor is entirely responsible for the means, methods and techniques of excavation regardless of the subsurface conditions encountered. The Owner and Engineer will not consider any claim, delays or requests for additional time and compensation by the Contractor for subsurface conditions differing from those shown or described herein (typically know as "differing site conditions"). A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, and test the Earthwork, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. All Work performed and materials furnished shall conform to the lines, grades, cross-sections, dimensions, details, gradations, and physical requirements established by the Drawings and Specifications. All Earthwork performed, including the materials furnished, shall be subject to the testing and inspection requirements set forth herein. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan: Section 02541 2. Mechanical: Division 15 C. Information on Subsurface Conditions 1. Logs of test borings, if any, are for information purposes only as conditioned and stipulated thereon. 2. The subsurface information, if any, is provided for informational purposes only. The Contractor is advised that no representations are made regarding subsurface qualities of rock or soil. All excavation on this project is considered "Unclassified" as governed by the applicable provisions of the Contract Documents. The Contractor is further advised that discrepancies in various elevations of soil and rock encountered in the field will, in no way, be basis for additional compensation. The Contractor shall make its own determinations relative to excavation required for the project. No warranties, indemnifications, or guarantees are made relative to subsurface information provided in the Contract Documents and Contract Drawings and in no way shall relieve the Contractor of its responsibilities under the terms of the Contract Documents. All determinations and other analysis regarding the subsurface conditions for the project and its effect on the execution of the contract shall be solely within the domain of the Contractor as reflected in its bid offered to the Owner. The Owner, Engineer and its agents related thereto are under no obligation relative to construction related provisions associated with subsurface information provided. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the smooth lined corrugated polyethylene non pressure piping (SLCPP) required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. The provisions of this section shall apply to all smooth lined corrugated polyethylene nonpressure pipe (SLCPP) and piping systems specified in this Division or presented on the Drawings. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents. 1. Section 02200: Earthwork. A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish and install or restore existing Paving, Surfacing, Walkways, Curbs as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this section are a direct extension of Earthwork for Pipelines: Section 02205 and, although set forth only once within these Specifications, shall apply equally to this section. A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish and install the Site Improvements, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. Section 02000: Site Work General Provisions. 2. Section 03300: Cast-In-Place Concrete. A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish and install the topsoil, seed, and mulch, as set forth in the approved Erosion and Sediment Control Plan and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. Section 02000: Site Work General Provisions 2. Section 02200: Earthwork 3. Section 02541: Erosion and Sediment Control A. Scope 1. The Work covered under this section shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, and test the U.V Post air tank concrete structure, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. Tank to Be Furnished and Installed by Dutchland INC through COSTARS. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in the Contract Documents 1. Section 03200: Concrete Reinforcement. 2. Section 07900: Joint Sealants. 3. Division 11: Equipment. 4. Division 15: Mechanical. A. Scope 1. The Work covered under Division 11 shall consist of providing all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the equipment required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this Division of the Specifications. Only that equipment or material which is so described in the Contract Documents will be furnished by others. 2. Installation will include placing, aligning, anchoring, grouting, cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting of all mechanical equipment. Installation will also include providing all miscellaneous spare parts where required by the Specifications. 3. The Contractor will coordinate his Work with the Owner to provide a complete and workable installation. He will cooperate with the Owner to the end that the Owner will obtain a high-quality product at the earliest reasonable date and in accordance with the scheduling requirements as set forth in the Contract Documents. 4. This Division describes the general requirements for providing the equipment required for the Project. The Specifications and Drawings outline certain characteristics of the various items of equipment and the systems in which they are incorporated, but do not purport to set forth all the details of design. All equipment and/or systems shall be complete with all necessary accessories and appurtenances required for proper operation, including all items recommended by the respective manufacturers and not herein specified. 5. The Work shall include the complete testing, as described in the Specifications and/or recommended by respective equipment manufacturers, of all equipment and materials at the completion of the Work and making any changes or adjustments necessary for the proper functioning of the system and equipment. 6. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to coordinate the Work and equipment, as set forth in this section of the Specifications, with Work and equipment specified under other sections of the Specifications, in order to provide a complete and satisfactory installation. No changes in the Work shall be made without the written acceptance of the Owner and Engineer. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this section, although set forth herein but once, shall apply equally to all equipment specified and/or provided under the requirements of the various sections of the Specifications. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the water distribution piping systems required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this Division of the Specifications. 2. The provisions of this section shall apply to all pipe and piping systems specified in this Division or presented on the Drawings. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. All applicable sections of Mechanical: Division 15 2. Trench excavation, bedding, backfill, and related pipe installation work are described in Earthwork for Pipelines: Section 02205. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, materials, equipment, etc. as required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the Stainless Steel Pipe required for the compressed air piping for diffused aeration systems and other related project piping, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents: 1. The provisions of this section are a direct extension of Section 15010: Piping System General Provisions and, although set forth only once within these Specifications, shall apply equally to this section. 2. Trench excavation, bedding, backfill, and related pipe installation work are described in Section 02200: Earthwork. 3. Concrete for the construction of anchor and thrust blocks is described in Section 03300: Cast-In-Place Concrete. 4. Protective coatings for piping and appurtenances are described in Section 09900: Painting. 5. All sections in Division 15 addressing requirements for valves. 6. Section 15070: Piping System Appurtenances. 7. Section 15080: Piping System Testing and Disinfection. C. Description of System 1. Piping shall be installed in those locations shown on the Drawings and as required for compressed air piping for use in diffused aeration systems. 2. The equipment and materials specified herein are intended to be standard types of stainless-steel pipe and fittings for use in transporting compressed air piping for use in diffused aeration systems. 3. Stainless steel piping for the systems listed below shall be type Type 304L, Schedule 40S. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the copper piping required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. The provisions of this section shall apply to all copper pipe and piping systems specified in this Division or presented on the Drawings. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this section are a direct extension of Piping Systems, General Provisions: Section 15010 and, although set forth only once within these Specifications, shall apply equally to this section. 2. Trench excavation, bedding, backfill, and related pipe installation work are described in Earthwork for Pipelines: Section 02205. 3. Concrete for the construction of anchor and thrust blocks is described in Piping System Appurtenances: Section 15070. 4. Piping System Appurtenances: Section 15070. 5. Piping System Testing and Disinfection: Section 15080. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the Valves required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. The provisions of this section shall apply to all valves and accessories specified in this Division or presented on the Drawings. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. All applicable sections of Mechanical: Division 15. 2. Valves and operator locations may require sensors, limit switches, controls, and/or other devices specified in other sections of these Specifications. 3. Valve included in these specifications may or may not be used on this project. Refer to Drawing for type and location of valves used on this project. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the thermoplastic valves required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. 2. The provisions of this section shall apply to all thermoplastic valves specified in this Division or presented on the Drawings. However, when the requirements for plumbing and/or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work, are set forth elsewhere in these Specifications or on the Drawings, the latter requirements shall take precedence. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this section are a direct extension of Section 15040: ValvesGeneral Provisions and, although set forth only once within these Specifications, shall apply equally to this section. 2. All sections in Division 15 addressing requirements for piping. 3. Section 01600: Materials and Equipment. A. Scope 1. The Contractor shall provide all plant, labor, and material required to furnish, install, test, and place in operation the Miscellaneous Valves required for the Project, as set forth on the Drawings and in accordance with this section of the Specifications. B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere in Contract Documents 1. The provisions of this Section are a direct extension of Section 15010: Piping System General Provisions and Section 15040: Valves-General Provisions and, although set forth only once within these Specifications, shall apply equally to this section. 2.
