Renovation of a mixed-use development in Detroit, Michigan. Working plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, materials, and equipment to install a 1.4 telecom system in accordance with VHA Master Specifications at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Work includes procuring, installing, testing, and labeling approximately 6,000 linear feet of fiber optic cable, providing pull strings, and supplying all patch cables. Testing must confirm cable lengths and continuity, and labeling shall be applied at all cable and conduit ends. Contractor shall install all necessary cable raceways, including green powder-coated EMT conduit, flex conduit where required, j-boxes, j-hooks, fittings, and hardware. All fiber optic connectors must be punched down and terminated. The scope also includes assembling and installing up to 40 networking cable mitigation boards (fire-rated plywood backboards painted high-gloss white), up to 45 fiber distribution boxes for single and multi-mode cables, and using HILTI-FS1 fire stopping at both ends of all raceway penetrations. Contractor shall implement safety and infection control measures, including sealing electrical closet/work area doors with 6mm or greater plastic and dust barrier zippers, setting up air scrubbers with ductwork to exhaust fans, and installing sticky mats at doors prior to work. Contractor shall assemble and install all government-furnished equipment, including up to 35 networking racks, 45 rack-mounted UPS units, 40 rack-mounted Ethernet switches, 80 fiber optic transceivers, and 45 rack-mounted keystone patch panels. All equipment must be bonded and grounded. Contractor shall clean installed equipment, remove excess materials, and sweep and mop floors upon completion. Work excludes CAT6A and power drops or any tasks not stated in this statement or drawings. The contractor shall complete all work within 240 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, following manufacturer recommendations, applicable codes, and VA standards. Temporary dust partitions, fire-retardant plastic sheeting, walk-off mats, and safety barriers must be provided. Submittals and shop drawings shall be submitted for approval. Work must be performed without disrupting medical center operations, during normal hours (7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays), unless otherwise authorized. The contractor's project manager must hold a 30-hour OSHA certificate, and all subcontractors must have 10-hour OSHA training certificates. Parking and access will be coordinated through the Engineering Admin Office. Location: John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, 4646 John R Street, Detroit, MI 48201.
