Work generally includes asphalt paving, concrete paving, concrete curb, shade structure, site furniture, site drainage, drinking fountain, and new site lighting with utility connections, shade trees, and landscaping. Specifications require the submittal of a 10% Bid Surety with the proposal. The successful contractor(s) must be able to provide a satisfactory Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond, and required proof of insurance following the award of a contract. All of the iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in the project must be produced in the United States. The contractor and all subcontractors must comply with all requirements of applicable local, state and federal codes, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act, Playground Equipment Safety Act, Utilization of Public Facilities by Physically Limited Act, Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, and the Access Board’s Final Guidelines for Outdoor Developed Areas. Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids. Successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as sub-contractors. Contractors must confirm that neither they, nor their subcontractors, manufacturers, or suppliers appear on the Michigan Debarred Vendor List, Federal Debarred Vendor List, or Unfair Labor Practice Register. Bids must remain firm for 60 days after opening. Chikaming Township reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities on a bid, and to accept the lowest responsible bid that serves the best interests of the Township. All contracts are subject to Township rules and regulations and payment of Berrien County’s prevailing wage rate.
