Renovation of an educational facility in Big Rapids, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Ferris State University reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all bids. Section A: 12,559 square feet (+/-) Section B: 100 square feet (+/-) Section C: 100 square feet (+/-) Section D: 5,094 square feet (+/-) Section E: 6,838 square feet (+/-) Section F: 100 square feet (+/-) Section G: 100 square feet (+/-) The acceptable manufacturers for the new TPO roofing system application are Siplast, Carlisle, Johns Manville, or Elevate (Firestone). Any other membrane manufactures not mentioned must be pre-approved by RoofTech and Ferris State University prior to bidding. 1.02 All bids for this roof renovation project must adhere to the State of Michigan prevailing wage rate for state funded projects. 1.03 Prior to the start of the project, all fall protection will have to be approved by Ferris State University and RoofTech Consulting and Management. 1.04 The roof renovation project start date shall commence on or after May 11 th , 2026 and shall be completed on or before August 14 th , 2026. A. The Contractor shall protect the roofing system(s) surrounding the newly renovated areas as specified. It should be noted that the Contractor shall be held responsible for any damage to the new and/or existing membrane(s). B. The Contractor shall remove the existing attached 60 mil Carlisle Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) single-ply membrane along with the roof substrate materials down to the existing cement deck and properly dispose of the existing roof membrane and all materials in strict accordance with state, county and/or city requirements. C. The Contractor shall remove the existing flashing at the perimeter walls, all curbs, support pipes, support sleepers, and all roof penetrations and properly dispose in strict accordance with state, county and/or city requirements. D. The Contractor shall remove the existing metal drip edged detail and metal coping detail from the perimeter edges, parapet walls, and/or sleepers and properly dispose in strict accordance with state, county and/or city requirements. E. The Contractor shall carefully inspect the cement deck for any deficiencies and/or damage. Repair if deemed necessary by the Consultant and/or Owner. See Unit Pricing. F. The Contractor shall remove all abandonment(s) as directed by the Owner. See Unit Pricing. G. The Contractor shall install new roof decking to fill the openings left in the cement deck from the removal of any abandonment(s). The new roof deck shall meet all state, county, and/or city building codes for structural integrity. H. The Contractor shall remove the expansion joint wall flashing and install new wall flashing along the expansion joint between Sections A and D. The Contractor shall replace any damaged and/or deteriorated wood at this location. The Contractor shall raise the height of the expansion joint to allow for a minimum twelve (12) inch flashing height. I. The Contractor shall fill the expansion joint cavity with new batten insulation as outlined in the engineering detail. The batten insulation shall be manufactured by Owens Corning with a minimum R-30. J. The Contractor shall raise all curbs to accommodate a minimum eight (8) inch flashing height if need, required or specified. The Contractor shall purchase and install new three-quarter (3/4) inch exterior grade plywood to be attached to the walls, penthouse walls, expansion joint, and/or curbs for a smooth bonding surface for the new TPO flashing detail.
