Site work and paving for a playground / park / athletic field in Guilford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade playground / park / athletic field.
Bittner Park Parking Lot Paving The Town of Guilford Parks & Recreation Department is seeking bids from qualified paving contractors for surface preparation and asphalt paving of the back parking lot at Bittner Park and the existing pathway leading to the Skatepark. The goal is to improve safety, accessibility, and overall functionality of the area. A. Back Parking Lot o Approximate paving area: 50,000 square feet. o Current condition: Combination of gravel base and older pavement sections. B. Pathway to the Skatepark o Included within the total 50,000 sq ft project area. o Current condition: Existing asphalt pathway requiring fine grading and asphalt surfacing. A. Site Preparation & Grading 1. Back Parking Lot o Fine grade entire surface to achieve uniform slope and drainage. o Compact existing gravel and pavement base to required density. o Remove loose, soft, or unsuitable material as necessary. 2. Pathway to Skatepark o Excavate and regrade pathway to establish consistent width and slope. o Compact pathway base to meet required density. o Ensure smooth transitions at both the pathway entrance and the parking lot. Surface Preparation o Clean all existing pavement surfaces scheduled to receive an overlay. o Apply a uniform tack coat over all existing pavement areas to promote proper adhesion. o Ensure gravel sections are dust-free and stable before paving. o All joints will be checked with a 10' straight edge to ensure smooth transitions. o Non tracking tack should be used. Asphalt Paving / Overlay 1. Parking Lot o Install one course of hot mix asphalt (HMA) over the prepared base. o Compact asphalt to a finished depth of 2 inches. o Parking lot will be graded to ensure proper drainage 2. Skatepark Pathway o Install one course of hot mix asphalt (HMA) compacted to 2 inches. o Provide continuous and safe transitions to adjacent paved areas. Finishing & Cleanup o Roll and compact all asphalt surfaces to achieve uniform density and smoothness. o Ensure proper drainage with no standing water. o Neatly clip and compact all asphalt edges. o Remove construction debris and restore disturbed areas. o Cleanout of trucks in front of paving machine. o Keep the site clean and safe throughout the project. Contractor Requirements o Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and traffic control. o Work must follow Connecticut DOT standards or industry equivalent. o Contractors must visit the site before bidding to verify conditions. o Include estimated project timeline with bid submission. o Provide proof of insurance (liability and workers' compensation). o Provide a one-year warranty on materials and workmanship. Competitive bids are sought from qualified and responsible vendors for upgrades to the Guilford Public Schools data network. Bidders must submit sealed bids labeled with the bid number and title. Bid specifications are available online. A mandatory pre-bid walk through is required. Questions regarding specifications must be submitted in writing by email only. Each bidder must submit the original proposal, three copies, one electronic copy, and bid security in the amount of ten percent of the base bid. Bidders are required to honor their bid price for ninety business days from the opening date. The winning bidder is bound to their proposal price for the contract period. Minimum labor rates must align with prevailing wage standards. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive defects. The entity is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
