Renovation of a mixed-use development in Tuskegee, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
The project involves replacing and upgrading the fire alarm system for multiple buildings at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System, East Campus. The existing fire alarm network is outdated, relying on a token ring 4120 fiber optic system with obsolete network interface cards and a single-loop topology. The fiber backbone is in poor condition, with unknown pathways and limited usable fibers, posing significant safety risks. The current Graphic Command Center (GCC) is antiquated, inaccurate, and requires an emulator to operate due to its outdated software. Mass notification is currently handled through an overhead paging system without visual alerts, as the fire alarm system lacks campus-wide voice/alarm functionality. Only two buildings have local voice/alarm systems. The scope includes replacing fire alarm panels, controllers, and associated components in Buildings 14, 65, 68, 88, 90, and 93, as well as addressing connectivity issues for Buildings 15 and 97. Each building has unique configurations, such as annunciator panels, elevator modules, and specialized systems like kitchen hood suppression in recreational areas. The new system must provide reliable communication, voice evacuation capability, and meet life-safety standards. The estimated construction magnitude is between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000, with a completion period of 365 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed. Work will be performed under a Firm Fixed Price Construction contract, and the procurement is set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs). **Location:** Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System East Campus 2400 Hospital Road Tuskegee, AL 36083 Magnitude of Construction: Between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000. Estimated/target Completion Period: 365 calendar days after issuance of Notice to Proceed. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
