Crabbe Library Elevator Upgrades This invitation is for the upgrade of the elevator in the Crabbe Library Elevator as specified in the following bid at Eastern Kentucky University's Richmond, KY Campus. The work includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and services necessary to complete the project outlined in the event and attachments including all items indicated throughout the event. Work will begin immediately following an official Award of Contract and Purchase Order from Eastern Kentucky University. A point of contact for EKU Project Management will be provided to the awarded vendor at time of award. Questions Due By: 12/4/2025 no later than 2:00PM EST - Submit via the Q&A Board within this solicitation event. Substantial Date for Completion: 120 days from stated start date on purchase order Final Date for Completion: 135 days from stated start date on purchase order Liquidated Damages: - $200 per day until Substantial Completion - $100 per day until Final Completion Bid bonds and performance bonds are required unless otherwise stated. The purpose of this project is to modernize one (1) in-ground hydraulic passenger elevator in the Crabbe Library. The upgrade will ensure the elevator meet all Kentucky Building Code (KBC) and ASME A17.1-2010 elevator requirements. The work will involve the installation of new equipment, as specified, while reusing and modifying existing components where applicable. The following is included in the scope of work: - All required materials. - Demolition of existing systems as necessary. - Labor for installation and modifications. - Applicable taxes, freight, and permits. - System adjustments and testing. - A 12-month warranty on all installed equipment and components. The following tasks required by code will be provided by others and included in the price: 1. Electrical, fire alarm, and sprinkler upgrades or changes. 2. HVAC requirements for the existing machine room, including sump pump installation and cover. 3. Removal and replacement of existing flooring and installation of new flooring as selected by the University. 4. Any additional requirements as stipulated by the elevator inspector or local authorities a. New Elevator Cab Interiors: 1. New Kingswood Walnut wall panels, with black inlay in between, over the existing side and back walls of the cab shell. 2. New #4 brushed stainless steel handrails on the side and back walls. 3. New 14 gauge #4 brushed stainless steel opening wall. 4. New island down light ceiling with six (6) #4 brushed stainless steel panels and a solo beam led light in each panel. 5. New #4 brushed stainless steel center parting car doors. 6. New extruded aluminum car door sill. 7. New flooring shall be Mohawk Group Large and Local Wood C0128 LVT Woody 978 b. New car and hall fixtures 1. New 11 gauge #4 brushed car operating panel with innovation PB23 bruiser, vandal resistant, metal pushbuttons w/ jewel, PB-1 key switches, digital position indicator, and locked fire service cabinet. Features: key switches for fire service (feo-k1), stop, independent service, fan, & lights. led emergency light. Fire hat indicator. ansi phase ii fire service instructions, car number, capacity, company name, and "when flashing help is on the way" jewel to accompany the k-tech emergency phone. new wiring from the cartop junction box to the C.O.P. 2. New Pictographs 3. New electronics voice annunciator 4. Car directional lantern & discrete chime 5. Hall stations - ph series surface mounted with a fire service key switch and communication failure jewel at the 1 st floor landing, as well as fire emergency pictograph and phase 1 fire service instructions. c. Controller System Replacement 1. Replace existing controllers with new non-proprietary controllers. 2. Install new landing systems. 3. Provide new car-top boxes, serial link communications, and complete rewiring throughout the elevator system. d. Pump Unit Replacement with Battery Lowering 1. Install new submersible pump units, including tanks, valves, motors, mufflers, and pumps. 2. Supply AW32 hydraulic oil as needed to ensure proper operation. Bio-oil will not be accepted or approved. e. Car Operating Panels 1. Install new stainless-steel car operating panels, including 2. Emergency lighting. 3. Digital position indicators. 4. Hands-free phone communication system. f. Hall Door Panels 1. Install new brushed stainless-steel hall door panels at each landing for enhanced durability and aesthetics. g. Hall Door Equipment 1. Replace hall door equipment, including 2. Pickup rollers. 3. Interlocks. 4. Closers to ensure smooth and secure door operation. h. Car Door System 1. Install new car door operators, clutches, linkages, electronic edges, and gate switches to improve door performance and safety. i. Cab Interior Enhancements 1. Provide new cab interior overlays inside each elevator, including 2. Standard laminate selections. 3. Brushed stainless-steel handrails. 4. Aluma-steel downlight ceiling with six (6) round LED lights. 5. Brushed stainless-steel car door panels, front return, strike, and transom cladding. j. Reuse of Existing Equipment 1. Existing equipment that is compatible with the new installations will be reused and modified as needed to integrate with the new systems. k. Contractor to install security camera cabling with traveling cables. Owner shall furnish and install camera. C. Alternates: Alternate #1: None D. Contract Documents were prepared for the project by Eastern Kentucky University, Facilities Management Engineering and Construction. In these documents, the words "Architect" and "Engineer" are used interchangeably as are the words "vendor" and "contractor."
