**As of February 11, 2026, project was awarded, start date will on April.** Doe Mountain Recreation Area (DMRA) is seeking proposals for the construction of two trail sections: the Lower Kettlefoot Trail and the Kettlefoot Gravity Session Trail, as outlined in the attached maps and descriptions. These trails are designed to enhance the overall trail network, improve user experience, and support sustainable trail development. 1. Lower Kettlefoot Trail Length: 13,605 feet Purpose: Continuation of the upper Kettlefoot Trail from Trail 1 near Trail 20 to the Adventure Center. Features: o Rock outcroppings o Rock gardens o Rhododendron tunnels o Intermediate-level dual-direction trail Requirements: o Construction to avoid user conflicts due to dual-direction use. o Follow the existing flagged trail alignment. o Include sustainability features such as durable materials (e.g., rock reinforcements). User Group: Hikers and mountain bikers. 2. Kettlefoot Gravity Session Trail Length: 3,550 feet Purpose: One-way, bike-optimized, gravity-oriented trail. Features: o Located closer to the Adventure Center. o Bypasses ridgeline sections of the Lower Kettlefoot Trail. o Offers short climbs and a fun descent with a 200 elevation change (round trip under 1.5 miles). Requirements: o Utilize rocks and less dynamic trail tread shapes to enhance sustainability and reduce maintenance. o Trail design optimized for gravity riding with proper flow and safety measures. o Minimize environmental impact, following sustainable practices. The contractor is responsible for the following: Trail alignment review and refinement based on the flagged trail and maps. Construction of durable and sustainable trail tread. Incorporation of the trail's natural features, such as rock gardens and tunnels, while minimizing environmental impact. Development of proper drainage to prevent erosion and ensure long-term sustainability. Installation of signage or markers as specified by DMRA. Collaboration with DMRA representatives for project oversight and alignment adjustments.
