Adrian, Michigan 500,000 Gallon Double Ellipse Exterior Overcoat Wet Interior Repaint And Miscellaneous Repairs The project involves work on a 500,000 gallon double ellipse elevated water storage tank located at 1107 Bristol Street in Adrian, Michigan. The work includes high pressure water cleaning (5,000 to 10,000 psi) and spot power tool cleaning to an SSPC-SP11 standard on the exterior, followed by the application of a three-coat epoxy urethane system and caulking between leg baseplates and concrete foundations. The wet interior requires abrasive blast cleaning to an SSPC-SP10 near-white metal standard, application of a three-coat zinc epoxy system, polyurethane caulk to the roof lap seams, removal and reinstallation of the cathodic protection system, and removal and reinstallation of the mechanical mixer after topcoat cure. The foundation is to be water cleaned and coated with a two-coat epoxy system. Repairs include installation of a riser manway, replacement of gaskets on the wet interior roof hatch and bolted painter’s hatch, overflow discharge modification, replacement of fall prevention devices, installation of a vandal guard and roof platform, installation of a wet interior ladder, modification of balcony access, installation of a roof handrail with painter’s railing, installation of bowl rigging couplings, removal of the painter’s railing from the wet interior, replacement of a damaged electrical junction box, and relocation of the aviation light. The contractor must account for more sanding to feather in edges of spot failures on the roof due to extensive topcoat delamination. Cost is to be included in the exterior overcoating bid. Pre-qualification requirements: Dixon Engineering will review qualifications of all contractors and determine their status based on experience, workmanship, successful project completions with Dixon, and contractor’s financial data. Contractors will be prequalified for different sized tanks and towers. Any contractor with projects in dispute or unfinished due to contract problems will not be prequalified.
