Demolition, site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Junction City, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel.
The scope of work includes replacing the existing 36-inch concrete culvert pipe with a 48-inch reinforced concrete culvert pipe. Work also involves excavation and fill for the culvert replacement, placement of base aggregate dense, riprap installation, and asphaltic surface paving along a 100-foot project length. The culvert is currently submerged, so dewatering will be necessary and contractors should determine specific dewatering methods. Sheet piling coffer dams are anticipated to be needed. Contractors are encouraged to complete the culvert replacement and in-stream work before March 14th to utilize expected low water levels, if this is fiscally advantageous. There is an in-stream timeout restriction from March 14 through June 15, during which no work can occur. If work is not completed during the winter drawdown period, all remaining work must occur between June 15th and August 1st, 2026. Project documents provide more information regarding water levels.
