The project involves acquiring and installing a steam boiler to replace the existing Bryan boiler in Building 1398. The new boiler will support environmental climate control and the autoclave system within the facility, which is dedicated to biological control and treatment research on invasive pests. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the installation. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. 1.4.1 Steam boiler acquisition - Contractor will research a 1:1 replacement unit that meets the facilities requirements. - New equipment will be delivered and rigged into place in a predetermined location selected by the COR. - Contractor will be responsible for site preparation for removal of existing boiler and the installation of the new boiler. - Contractor will ensure that the boiler meets current demand requirements. - After boiler installation, contractor will be responsible for an operational performance status report. - A factory-trained representative will start the new boiler. The boiler manufacturer's boil out procedure will be performed, as well as all safety tests. - Contractor will be responsible for providing operational and maintenance school training by a manufacturer's representative. - All work performed will be by qualified, licensed technicians during regular weekday business hours. - A guarantee, either by repair or replacement, any original defects in parts, materials, or workmanship which may be necessitated at any time during the twelve months after completion of the installation, not to include preventative maintenance. 1.4.2 Electricity - Current boiler room has an adequate electrical supply, so no additional electrical outlets are needed. - Contractor's electrician will provide all the necessary wiring for the boiler and feed water system installation. All wiring must comply with the NEC standards. 1.4.3 Plumbing - Feedwater system will be piped to the existing make-up water supply. A new feed water line will be run at the new boiler's inlet. Feedwaters terminations will be made and tested. - Install new steam/condensate pipes to correspond with current piping. - New boiler will be equipped with ASME code-required valves for the header. - New piping will be insulated with 1" fiberglass insulation and covered with ASJ (all service jacket), and all fittings will be covered. - The new boiler will be piped to the flash separator, piped to the existing floor drain and existing venting. 1.4.4 Water filtration and Waste condensate - Connect boiler to newly installed water filtration system and chemical treatment system. - Water and waste lines will be insulated with heat trace. - Each water supply will have backflow preventer. - Contractor will need to gain approval for water and waste installation by 102nd Air National Guard (Local Water and Waste Supplier). 1.4.5 Security / Accessibility - Install METASYS JCI monitoring for room temperature. - Install METASYS JCI monitoring for boiler operations. - Key swipe access to boiler room.
