Renovation of a water / sewer project in New Canaan, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

No contractor may withdraw his proposal within 90 days after the actual date of the proposal opening. Additionally, the contract documents require the prompt commencement of the work. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all Proposals or any part thereof, to waive defects in the same, or to accept any proposal or any part thereof deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of New Canaan, Connecticut. Inquiries regarding this request must be made by calling or writing to: Bill Oestmann, Building Superintendent Town Hall - 77 Main Street New Canaan, CT 06840 203-594-3710 william.oestmann@newcanaanct.gov Performance Maintenance, and Payment Bonds Required if project exceeds fifty thousand Dollars ($50,000). The Town of New Canaan presently has three wastewater pumping stations in service. The dual-pump control scheme for each location was devised and fabricated in 1 998 and utilized 1 8-terminal Pepper & Fuchs WE 77/EX2-UL relays; the relays are no longer in production. In addition, the existing control design incorporates 480-volt, 11 5-volt, and 8-volt devices within a common enclosure. This project replaces the functionality of the Pepper & Fuchs relays with common Potter and Brumfield plug-in relays and a dual DC power supply system. The relays and power supplies are mounted within a dedicated enclosure, thus isolating the 11 5-volt AC and 24-volt DC components and wiring from the 480-volt devices within the existing control enclosure. The replacement relay control package can be installed and pre-wired with the existing relays and equipment online. The cutover to the new relay control package will require a scheduled shut down, with the final circuit disconnections and connections performed in a staged manner (to keep each pumping station online and available for manual activation). The alternative control package enclosures will be located based upon input from the Town of New Canaan Department of Public Works personnel. _ Once mounted, a single 1 -inch diameter EMT or Flexible Conduit raceway shall be installed on the Low Voltage side of the new enclosure connecting it to the existing Control Enclosure. _ A second 1 -inch diameter EMT or Flexible Conduit raceway shall be installed on the Line (1 20-volt) Voltage side of the new enclosure connecting it to the existing Control Enclosure. _ Four two-conductor #1 6 AWC shielded cables will be installed within one of the 1 -inch raceways for connection to the Low Voltage Terminal Block. _ 1 5 #14 AWC Stranded Copper conductors with THWN-2 insulation will be installed within the second 1 -inch raceway for connection to the Line Voltage Terminal Block. Within the Existing Control Enclosure: _ The three 1 20 volt AC conductors will be connected to power the new DC Power Supplies. _ The five two-conductor shielded conductor cables for the Limit Switch Connections will be connected to the existing Limit Switch termination points to transfer the functionality. _ The ten 1 20-volt control conductors will be terminated to transfer control functions Each pumping station will have the following installed: _ One 20" by 20" NEMA 3R Enclosure (wall mounted) with: DIN rails, terminal blocks, and wiring Six Potter and Brumfield KRPA plug-in relays, bases, and retention bails Two Advanced Energy Artesyn DC power supplies Two flexible conduit runs to the existing Control Enclosure and Interconnections to the existing Control Enclosure
