Sealed bids are requested to furnish all labor, materials, contractor's equipment, plant, and all else necessary to properly construct improvements for the West Plant Reaction Basin/20X24 Pipe Connection. The work covers two separate piping projects at the West Water Plant, which include pipe sizes ranging from 10" to 30". Work involves cut-in tees, DIP pipe, wall sleeves, brick, concrete wall cores, and disinfection. The City will provide the 10" pressure reducing valve and brick for the reaction basin project. All work must comply with standard City of Norfolk specifications. Section A involves connecting 24" Zone 1 piping and 20" Zone 2 piping, installation of a 10" pressure reducing valve (owner-purchased), a 24X10X24 live tap, a 20" butterfly valve, a 10" water valve, tees, and a manhole for the pressure reducing valve. Section B involves connecting an existing 24" DIP pipe to the reaction basin, installation of a 24" butterfly valve, a 24X30 reducer, and core-drilling a 30" pipe into the reaction basin; brick for replacement will be installed by the contractor with materials supplied by the city. Bids must reflect unit prices for all estimated quantities and include all labor and appurtenances. Contractors must visit the site to verify conditions and quantities and provide a record of five similar projects from the past five years. Each bid must include a bid bond or certified check for 5% of the total bid price. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a bond equal to 100% of the contract price. The bid security must be submitted in a separate envelope and clearly marked. Bids lacking proper bid security will be rejected. The City reserves the right to waive informalities or reject any or all bids.
