Renovation of a transportation facility in Seattle, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
The work of this Contract consists of removing platform gray field tiles and damaged granite wayfinding tiles and replacing them with new tiles at the SeaTac link station. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The Scope of Work includes the following requirements. The Drawings are incorporated into this Scope of Work by reference. The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to: 1. Link Light Rail Station Platforms must be operational at the beginning of each revenue service day. The Contractor shall only demolish and replace enough tiles to achieve resumption of revenue service each day. It is recommended that a rapid curing thin set product is considered to achieve this requirement and schedule curing time accordingly. 2. Remove gray field tiles and damaged granite wayfinding tiles by hand or with equipment as necessary. 3. Remove grout joints at adjacent tiles and prep for new grout. 4. Remove by hand or with equipment any loose or crumbled mortar and debris. Grind surface of existing mortar bed to remove old thinset mortar, grout, sealants, dirt, and debris. Utilize tents and vacuums to minimize dust exposure around work site. 5. Evaluate condition of mortar bed after cleaning to determine if mortar bed filler is required. 6. Procure and install new gray field tiles with rapid curing thin set directly to the mortar bed to match existing 12"X12" Grey Field Tile: Crossville - Cross-colors in slate finish, color is Graphite. 7. Replace any existing damaged granite wayfinding tiles with rapid curing thin set directly to the mortar bed. Procure thirty matching existing 7-3/4" X 15-3/4" X 5/8" Grainte PB-1 Bethel White manufactured by TSG TecStone Granite USA LTD. 8. All tile replacement activities must be completed within the time allotted by the Sound Transit Operations under the Track Allocation Program. Tile installation activities including thin set curing must be scheduled to facilitate full platform passenger operation each day. 9. After the mortar has cured, apply grout and sealant to joints. 10. Protect tile while thinset mortar, grout, and sealant cure with barricades, water barriers, and any other means necessary. 11. If needed, acquire necessary Noise Variance Permits from the City of SeaTac. 12. Submit a detailed Work Plan describing the work required in paragraphs 2.1 A. through I. 13. Submit Safety Plan(s) as required in other sections of this contract. 14. Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) shall be completed prior to work. JHA shall be available onsite for inspection by Sound Transit. JHA shall be reviewed by all staff during daily safety briefings prior to starting work, or prior to starting a new task. If the nature of the Work changes, the JHA must be updated, and staff must be informed of changes.
