Renovation of a municipal facility in Morgantown, West Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
West Virginia University on behalf of its Board of Governors ("BOG") located in Morgantown, West Virginia ("WVU" or "University") is initiating this Request for Proposals ("RFP") from qualified, firms or individuals ("Proposers") for the following: Evaluate, reimagine, and transform the current WVU Visitor Center into a state-of-the-art "Welcome Center" that aligns with contemporary best practices in university recruitment, visitor engagement, and institutional branding. The selected Proposer will assess the existing facility's layout, function, and aesthetics, benchmarking against leading institutions within the Big 12, peer institutions and nationwide. The selected Proposer will work with WVU from the initial redesign phase through construction completion. In the event the Due Date changes, it will be posted via addendums on the Q&A Board; the date will not change on this description. The bid/proposal process is highly controlled. To protect the integrity of the process, any questions or clarifications regarding this Request for Proposal must be handled through the Department of Procurement, Contracting, & Payment Services. Question Deadline 02/09/2026 at 12:00 PM ET -Kaison Ball Kaison.Ball@mail.wvu.edu o Technology & Lighting: Replace the main lobby video board, update lighting and controls, and integrate interactive yet low-tech storytelling displays. o Wayfinding: Improve garage and building signage to clearly direct visitors. o Reception Desk: Redesign or relocate the reception area to enhance visibility and code compliance. o OWP Lobby Updates: Coordinate lobby upgrades so that the shared entry reads as part of the Welcome Center brand while meeting building needs. o Catering Kitchen & Storage: Plan for an event-support kitchen and storage. o Brand & Spirit: Celebrate WVU's "Ra-Ra" energy, R1 status, and academic reputation through compelling graphics, materials, and storytelling. o Campus Map & Interactive Elements: Provide intuitive and engaging tools to help guests navigate campus, incorporating simple, user-friendly digital features such as QR codes or self-guided media while avoiding overreliance on complex technology. o PRT Car Display: Retain the iconic PRT car as a signature feature. o Overall Experience: Deliver a "wow" factor consistent with top-tier university welcome centers.
