This includes the repair of three existing pairs of opposing doors (totaling six doors), with two pairs being active doors and one pair being 'dummy' or nonfunctional. Restoration must maintain the historic elegance of the doors. Prevailing wages are required. Care must be taken to restore the doors to their original historic appearance. See Appendix A for photos. The Town of Randolph is seeking quotes for the restoration of three pairs of historic wooden doors at Stetson Hall, 6 South Main Street, Randolph, Massachusetts. Stetson Hall earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011 and the three pairs of doors are located prominently along the building’s west portico. The scope of work consists of the repair of three existing pairs of opposing doors (6 doors total), including two active pair of doors and one dummy or nonfunctional pair. Care must be taken to restore the existing doors to their historic elegance. The project bid consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals required to perform the work described below, including any miscellaneous work, cleanup, or other tasks as required to comply with the specifications contained below Work to be performed as follows: Removal of the existing doors with proper blocking using plywood or other materials to secure the entrance to the building from the elements and from intrusion. Each door is to be disassembled, the wood reconditioned, repaired, restored and refinished on the exterior with varnish and varnish or paint as required for the interior of each door. Each door is to be reconstructed using materials and practices that insure strong mortise and tenon joints so that it can be returned to a square profile for operability. The existing door hardware is to be cleaned and reinstalled. The mullions/trims are very dry so that after they are stripped they need to be soaked in a wood conditioner and hardeners. Doors are to be reinstalled and confirmed to be in excellent working order. The deadline for questions is Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 4:00 pm. Please send all questions to Henry Cooke, Stetson Hall Trustee at hcooke4@verizon.net.
