Site work and paving for a road / highway in Darien, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Description of Improvement The proposed work is officially known as "2026 Road Program" and further described as: 2" Milling and Resurfacing: Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Removal, 2" and installation of 1.5" of Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Course, IL-9.5, Mix "D", N50, 0.75" of Polymerized Hot-Mix Asphalt Binder Course, IL-4.75, N50, Class D Patches, Type I-IV, 6 Inch, and Bituminous Materials (Tack Coat). Full-Depth 4" Milling and Resurfacing: Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Removal, 4" and installation of 1.5" of Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Course, IL-9.5, Mix "D", N50, 2.5" of Hot-Mix Asphalt Binder Course, IL-19.0, N50, undercutting, Class D Patches, Type I-IV, 6 Inch, and Bituminous Materials (Tack Coat). Other improvements include thermoplastic and paint pavement striping, structure adjustments, all as further described in the contract documents for the said work prepared by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL). Base Bid The base consists of 2" or 4" resurfacing the streets listed in the "Base Bid" section on the following page according to the appropriate scope of work as described in the table below. Alternate 1 Bid Miscellaneous Class "D" Patching, 6" of various streets throughout the City. See Miscellaneous Patching, 6" special provision for locations. Alternate 2 Bid Cass Junior High School (8502 Bailey Rd, Darien, IL 60561): Full-Depth 4" Milling and Resurfacing. Pre-Qualification: Yes This work consists of adjusting curb inlets and curb catch basins that are located partially within the travel way so that frames and grates match the finished pavement elevation following pavement milling and resurfacing. Work includes removing or loosening existing frames and grates as required, adjusting structure walls or supporting components, installing new or reused frames and grates, sealing and patching around adjusted components, and providing temporary protection between milling passes to maintain a safe ride. Perform all work in accordance with the Illinois Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, and applicable District One Highway Standards and Detail Sheets. Coordinate elevations with the proposed milling depths and surface courses shown in the plans.
