Sealed bids are invited from qualified vendors to deliver various chemicals for the surface water and wastewater treatment plants. Chemicals to be supplied on an “as needed” basis include Calcium Hydroxide Greer Lime, Calcium Hydroxide Hydrated Lime, Chlorine Gas, Hydrofluosilic Acid, Ferric Sulfate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Hypochlorite (Liquid Bleach), Polymer, and Sulfur Dioxide. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “Bid No. 2025-87 Chemicals” and will only be accepted at the designated office location. Late or incorrectly submitted bids will not be considered. The City reserves the right to discuss bid details with bidders for clarification, to reject any or all responses, and to make an award as deemed in its own best interest. Minority and woman owned businesses are encouraged to participate and will not be discriminated against. The policy also provides preference to local businesses established at least one year within the City or County of Florence and holding a valid City of Florence business license for at least 12 months prior to the bid date. If no local business is eligible or able to participate, preference is provided to certified minority business enterprises. "Local businesses" within certain bid proximity percentages may match the lowest bid to be eligible for award.
