The Work Shall Consist of Installing Artificial Turf on Portions of the Northern Library Lawn. The Library Has Raised the Funds Needed to Move Forward With Construction of the Brillion Public Library Reading Garden Project. This Includes Installing Approximately 2,685 Square Feet Of Artificial Turf. The Specifications of This Installation Include a 4" to 6" of 3/4 " Dense Graded Base With a 1" Layer of 1/4 " Clear Chip, and Spikes Every 8" Around the Perimeter. All Seams Will Be Glued Using Turf Adhesive and Seaming Fabric. Approximately 1,455 Square Feet of This Project Will Need 2" of Foam Padding With Sand Infill. This Portion Will Also Be Installed Around Two Play Elements, Which Will Be Installed Early 2026 by Lee Recreation. Landscapers May Be Asked to Work With Lee Recreation on Installation Timeline. Bid Rejections- The Owner Reserves the Right to Reject Any and All Bids, Waive Any Informalities in Bidding, or to Accept the Bid or Bids Which Best Serves the Interest of the Brillion Public Library. Withdrawal of Bids- No Bid Shall Be Withdrawn for a Period of 60-days After the Scheduled Opening Without the Consent of the Owner. The Brillion Public Library's goal is to create an outdoor space for the community that will feature raised garden beds, musical instruments, book themed attractions, play spaces, as well as leisure and program areas. Libraries are always looking for new ways to serve their communities. The Brillion Public Library Reading Garden is one of the projects we have adopted to address this objective. Our goal is to expand our library into the outdoors. This space will feature raised garden beds, musical instruments, book themed attractions, leisure and program areas by utilizing the existing greenspace on the North end of the library. The area will provide an outdoor space in which individuals can gather in a multitude of ways. Whether they come to relax and enjoy the outdoors or to play musical instruments with their kids, the goal of this project is to provide individuals with a comfortable place where they can rest, breathe, and just "be." The garden will encourage individuals to engage with nature and experience something new to Calumet County. This project will also help the library provide a variety of educational programs we weren't properly equipped to offer before. An example of this is the addition of raised garden beds and the agricultural lessons we can teach with them. Our hope is that having the Reading Garden outside will also serve to welcome community members inside our building. This, in turn, will draw attention to the other great assets the library offers like chromebooks, reference materials, educational programs, and other connections to resources within the community. The garden project has received full support and approval by the RDA, Plan Commission, and City Council.
