Renovation of an educational facility in Murray, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a eight-story above grade educational facility.

The work consists of the demolition and replacement of all Aquatherm water mains, branches, and valves on floors one through eight, and the penthouse. This excludes all water loops located on floor eight, which are listed as an alternate. The project also includes the installation of new shower fixtures in all showers. Bidders are required to furnish all labor, materials, supplies, tools, appliances, equipment, services, etc., necessary to complete the work as set forth in the specifications and drawings. Bidders must submit proposals in two separate submittals through the designated website. Bids will be received from contractors on a lump sum basis for the total project. Submissions must be made only on the official forms supplied. Submittals must include the experience of the firm, references, the proposed team, and a list of key subcontractors for specific disciplines. Bids must also include unit prices and material lists for major subcontractors. All bids must be accompanied by a bid guarantee of not less than five percent of the base bid and the successful bidder must provide a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond. Only those prime contractors who have obtained plans and bid documents directly from the specified source are eligible to bid. The university reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive formalities or technicalities where the best interest of the university may be served. Bids must be submitted electronically through the specified website; physical submittals will not be accepted. A. An Independent Testing Laboratory (ITL), employed and paid for by the owner, shall perform the specified testing and laboratory services. The ITL shall be AASHTO/AMRL or Corps of Engineers validated to be qualified. B. Materials and workmanship not meeting the required standards or performance obligations are to be removed and replaced at the Contractor's expense, including all subsequent testing. C. Where the terms "Inspector" and "Testing Laboratory" are used, they mean and refer respectively to an officially designated and accredited inspector of the testing laboratory and the testing laboratory engaged by the Contractor. WORKED INCLUDED A. Inspection and testing of soil compaction and soil density. B. Inspection and testing of concrete work including design mixes, placement and reinforcing steel. C. Inspection and testing of mortar, grout and concrete masonry units, including design mixes and placement of reinforcing. E. Keeping inspection and test logs of all inspections and tests. F. Submitting to Engineer, Contractor, and Owner the certifications, records and reports of all inspections and tests.
