This work shall consist of controlling and/or removing weeds growing within native landscapes (prairies, savannahs, woodlands, wetlands, etc.). Various methods of weed control (hand weeding, hand trimming, spot spraying, wicking, etc.) may be required depending on the location, type of weeds, and size of weed infestation. These selective weed control areas may not be able to be treated with typical large roadside herbicide spraying equipment. Locations for selective weed control enhancement shall be as shown on plans and as designated by the Engineer. The undesirable weeds (tree saplings, teasel, thistle, Phragmites, cattails, etc.) shall be removed and/ or treated with the appropriate weed control method approved by the Engineer prior to the start of work per location. Multiple weed species may be treated during each site visit. All herbicides shall be approved by the Engineer prior to the start of work. All selective weed control enhancement areas shall be completed to the satisfaction of the Engineer with equipment, method, and/or herbicide approved by the Engineer.
