Renovation of a laboratory facility in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 3,776-square-foot, one-story above grade, seven-room laboratory facility.

Renovation of Laboratory Rooms 5073, 5076, 5077, 5085, 5086, 5090, and 5096, totaling 4,672 gsf (3,800 asf), on the fifth floor of the east wing of Young Hall to create newly renovated lab space. Scope of work includes the installation of 21 new fume hoods; provision of new flooring, wall finishes, research lab benches, chemical storage units, solvent purification systems, and lab casework, furniture, and equipment; and modifications to mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems to support the program, including new mechanical fan coil units, ductwork, modifications to lighting and controls, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm systems. ADA accessibility upgrades include alterations to corridor restrooms and drinking fountains along the path of travel associated with the project area. New fume hoods and laboratory casework as listed in Exhibits 21 and 22 will be furnished by the University and installed by Contractor. Contractor shall execute Assignment of Materials or Equipment Agreements for fume hoods and laboratory casework as listed in Exhibits 21 and 22 at time of award. Instructions to bidders include requirements for participation in both a mandatory Pre-Bid Conference (via Zoom) and a mandatory Job Walk at the project site in their entirety for eligibility to bid as a prime contractor. Bidders must log onto the Zoom meeting and arrive for the site visit at or before the designated times. Additional bidding instructions and details are provided online at the UCLA Online Planroom website. Pre-qualification requirements: To be allowed to submit a bid, Bidders must have the minimum experience set forth in the Prequalification Questionnaire contained in the Bidding Documents and posted on the UCLA Online Planroom website. Bidder's completed Prequalification Questionnaire must be received at the University Contracts Administration office in a sealed envelope, or uploaded to the UCLA Online Planroom website, no later than the specified deadline. The successful Bidder will be required to have a current and active California B License (General Building) at the time of submission of the Bid. All contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) with maximum opportunity to participate. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow nondiscrimination requirements and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work.
