Site work and paving for a road / highway in Grimes, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The project consists of the overlay resurfacing with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement of SW 19th Street from Countyline Road to 2,360 feet west of SW Jazzwood Drive and 5,360 feet along SW Jazzwood Drive. The improvements include construction of approximately 4056 Tons of HMA, 37,283 SY of subgrade preparation and cement treatment, traffic control, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. Each bidder must provide bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond for 100% of the contract price to guarantee faithful performance. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within Iowa, and resident bidders are given preference over nonresident bidders in accordance with Iowa statutes. Bidders must submit a fully completed and accurate Bidder Status Form with the proposal. The contractor must fully complete the overall project within thirty working days. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within this timeframe. Payment will be made on the basis of estimates approved by the Engineer, with 97% of completed work paid during each period and 3% retained until project acceptance. The City of Grimes reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
