The scope of the project includes the removal and replacement of approximately 40,000 square feet of the existing low sloped built-up roof system with a new single ply thermoplastic roof system at McCarthy Middle School in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The work also includes related masonry repairs, including selective repairs to brick masonry rising walls, installation of new through-wall flashing, and repairs to existing glass block assemblies. Plumbing, mechanical and electrical enabling work required to facilitate the roof replacement work. Filed sub-bids for this project include masonry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical trades. Abatement of asbestos containing materials will be required at select locations. The anticipated construction period is from June 8, 2026 to August 28, 2026. All work is as indicated in Contract Documents dated 2/11/2026 as prepared by Gale Associates, Inc. All work is to be in conformance with M.G.L. c. 149 - Building Construction Contracts. General Bidders must be DCAMM-certified as Prime in the Roofing category of work. Filed Sub Bidders must be DCAMM-certified in their respective category of work. All bidders must include an updated DCAMM Prime/Filed Sub-Bid Certificate and Update Statement with the bid. A bid deposit equal to 5% of the total bid amount is required. The successful bidder will be required to furnish 100% Payment and Performance Bonds. The Town reserves the right to waive informalities in the bidding process, reject any or all bids, and award the contract deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
