DWSRF No. 16698 The work involves furnishing and installing approximately 3,700 feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main, installing approximately 40 water services, and providing water service by-pass piping. The project also includes furnishing and installing about 1,100 feet of 10-inch ductile iron transmission main and approximately 7,600 linear feet of 10-inch high-density polyethylene transmission main. It also requires modification of the Davis Street Valve vault. Location of Work: 1. The work of this Contract is located in the Town of Chelmsford, Massachusetts (Town) on Smith Street, Parkhurst Road, North Road, through public school property owned by the Town, Graniteville Road, Crooked Spring Road and DoakDrive. Contractors must complete all work required under this contract within 214 consecutive calendar days for piping and initial paving, with an additional 30 days allowed for final paving. Work on school property has additional time restrictions. Bids must be accompanied by a bid security equal to 5% of the bid price. Attention is called to compliance with employment conditions, minimum wage rates, and payroll submission requirements under the contract. The awarding authority reserves the right to accept any bid, waive informalities, or reject any or all bids as determined to be in the best interest of the district. A. Smith Street Water Main (Town Roadway): Furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals necessary to install approximately 3,500 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron (DI) water main and appurtenances, install approximately 39 water services, remove and legally dispose of existing 6-inch cast iron (CI) water main, cut and cap existing 6-inch CI water main as shown on the drawings and as specified herein. Furnish, install, disinfect, maintain and subsequently remove 3-inch minimum diameter temporary by-pass piping including temporary service hose connections (minimum 3/4- inch diameter), install initial and permanent asphalt trench patch and overlay pavement as shown on the drawings and as specified herein. B. Transmission Water Main (Town and State Roadway): Furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals necessary to install approximately1,100 linear feet of DI transmission water main and approximately 7,600 linear feet of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) transmission water main including approximately 150 linear feet of horizontal directional drilling and install initial and permanent asphalt trench patch pavement as shown on the drawings and specified herein. There are no water service connections to the new transmission water main.
