The project is located on 42nd Street NW and 34th Avenue NW in the City of Altoona and unincorporated portions of Polk County. The work includes approximately 7,849 cubic yards of topsoil on-site, 19,090 cubic yards of Class 10 excavation, 21,770 square yards of 12-inch subgrade preparation, 2,701 square yards of soil stabilization, 21,630 square yards of 8-inch thick modified subbase, 403 square yards of 12-inch Class A crushed stone, 1,398 linear feet of 15-inch RCP storm sewer, 310 linear feet of 18-inch RCP storm sewer, 200 linear feet of 24-inch RCP storm sewer, 264 linear feet of 30-inch RCP storm sewer, 268 linear feet of 54-inch RCP storm sewer, 8,303 linear feet of 6-inch subdrain with cleanouts and connections, 22 pipe aprons of various sizes (15-inch to 54-inch), 2,746 linear feet of 12-inch PVC water main, 106 linear feet of trenchless 16-inch PVC water main, 3,543 linear feet of 16-inch PVC C900 water main, 6,125 pounds of ductile iron water main fittings, 21 water main valves, 20 fire hydrants, 22 SW-505 and SW-506 intakes, 15,439 square yards of 9-inch PCC pavement, 1,815 square yards of HMA base widening, 1,112 square yards of 6-inch HMA shoulder, 120 square yards of 6-inch HMA pavement, 520 square yards of 6-inch granular driveway, 2,536 square yards of pavement removal (HMA), 528 tons of 2-inch HMA overlay, 2,992 square yards of HMA milling (including profile millings), 1,190 square yards of 7-inch and 9-inch PCC driveway, 136.8 stations of painted pavement markings durable with groove cut, 27 painted symbols and legends durable with grooves cut, 107 stations of painted pavement markings solvent/waterborne, temporary traffic control, 37 traffic signs, 19.8 acres of Type 6 and Type 2 seeding, fertilizing and mulching, SWPPP management, and related erosion controls. Bid Alternate A includes 822 linear feet of 15-inch PVC trenched gravity sewer, 329 linear feet of 18-inch PVC trenched gravity sewer, and 4 SW-301 manholes. Each bidder must accompany its bid with bid security as defined, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bid security must be in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, certified share draft, or a bid bond as described in the contract documents. The bid must contain no conditions except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price, issued by a responsible surety approved by the City of Altoona, guaranteeing the faithful performance of the contract, payment of all material and labor, indemnity for claims and damages, and maintenance of the improvement for four years after acceptance. The City of Altoona reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for up to 60 calendar days and to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contracts as deemed in the best interest of the jurisdiction. Good faith efforts must be made to solicit bids from registered Targeted Small Businesses, and appropriate documentation must be provided with the bid.
